Chaka Khan Set to Light Up City of Cancun, Mexico at First-Ever Cancun In Lights Festival. Four-Day Festival to be Broadcast by Fashion Television
For the first time in Cancun, Mexico, top international performers including Grammy-award winners Chaka Khan and Poncho Sanchez and Latin-jazz musician and Grammy award-winning producer Little Louie Vega, will perform for four nights alongside various runway shows produced and broadcast by Fashion T.V.
Cancun, Mexico October 25, 2004 -- For the first time in Cancun, Mexico, top international performers including Grammy-award winners Chaka Khan and Poncho Sanchez and Latin-jazz musician and Grammy award-winning producer Little Louie Vega, will perform for four nights alongside various runway shows produced and broadcast by Fashion T.V.
The international extravaganza, which will be the first of yearly events in Cancun, will carry a different theme each night and feature a variety of spectacular cuisine, full-length fashion shows, musical performances by world-renowned acts and classic films shown on outdoor screens.
More than 5,000 spectators are expected to attend daily in an open-air amphitheatre just feet from the ocean. A spectacular display of dynamic lights and outdoor installations will surround a specially constructed venue, creating a unique ambience of tropical elegance and world-class entertainment, just metres from the ocean and under the stars. Cancun in Lights will be an unparalleled event for Cancun, showcasing the destinations fine cuisine, upscale nightlife and world-class entertainment. Each evening will feature a different theme with various attractions taking place simultaneously, including classic films, live performances, food tastings from Cancuns top restaurants and hotels and a series of VIP after-parties planned at different venues throughout the destination.
Cancun in Lights is part of an ongoing series of events held by the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau in conjunction with the Cancun Hotel Association to highlight various aspects of the destination, including its world-class entertainment, international appeal and fine cuisine. As part of this effort, future events will include the World Music Festival in April 2005 and Cancun in Lights II in November 2005.
